Certification
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
Information on technician certification, test schedules, and test sites.
The objective of the certification program is to enable pharmacy technicians to work more effectively with pharmacists to improve patient care. Many pharmacists have been reluctant to delegate some of their more routine work because of an undertrained technical workforce. As a result, pharmacists have not been able to use their education to the fullest extent possible to improve patient care.
The PTCB requires its Certified Pharmacy Technicians to renew certification every two years. Technicians can apply for recertification on-line.
