Pharmacy Coalition
The Statewide Pharmacy Coalition identified several key priorities for the 2005 Legislature, among them:
- Full licensure of pharmacy technicians. (Currently the Board of Pharmacy can only refuse a new tech registration or renewal, but has no ability to impose intermediate sanctions or refer a tech to the PRN program.)
- Removal of the age limitation on immunizations.
- Require third-party payers to accept responsibility for the accuracy of their patient databases. Some payers recoup payments from pharmacies based on eligibility errors, even though the online claims system told the pharmacy that a patient was covered by a particular payer.
- Streamlining the prior authorization process.
- Maintaining fair reimbursement in the Oregon Health Plan and other state programs.
- Details and language of these and other proposals will be finalized within the next month.
